Durned Virginia creeper is just too eye catching this time of year. This specimen was captured in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We photographers are a lot like hunters. We both want to capture Nature s fleeting beauty. Hunters get the added benefit of eating it. The circle of life. What a wonderful system. Life supporting live in an endless cycle. All we have to do is avoid overtaxing the system. Nature does not thrive on parking lots. Virginia Creeper on Granite.jpg

I ve never been big on selfies, but I have discovered that this stick is great for capturing low and high angle images and videos with a smartphone camera. Ground level shots, aerial shots. Reach high leaves, pan with moving subjects like water, running dogs, blowing leaves. Acts like a stabilizer so you can walk while videoing. Fun! _MG_9686 copy.jpg

There s something noble about the Plains Cottonwood, surviving as it does where other trees can t. Love seeing them, sheltering under them, hearing their cool leaves flicking in the breeze. Quick campfire wood, too, and home to orioles, kingbirds, flickers, kestrels and more. #whywehunt #hunting #tree #grassland #cottonwood #ronspomeroutdoors Plains Cottonwood.jpg

Endangered Species listing averted, suggesting environmentalists, ranchers, govt. land agencies, hunters, industry can cooperate in sane land management. But we still have a long way to go, and hunters must play a huge role. Are you up for it? Let s work together to save sage-steppe habitat and animals dependent on it. http://www.ronspomeroutdoors.com/blog/the-sage-grouse-lives/ Sage grouse hunting will continue as forces unite to protect, enhance critical sage-steppe habitat and increase populations of this upland bird. Dogs smile.
