Buy this book. It is raw indeed, but written in an honest and self- revealing style that exposes much of the macho drive and passion of man as hunter. Larcher hunts on the edge, figuratively and literally, going where no, or at least few, have gone before — and nearly died. You may not agree with some of his ethical choices, but you have to respect him for his honesty and dedication to the pursuit. These adventures are in the style of Russell Annabel only true. Larcher’s style is wordy, yet you keep chugging along because the action is worth it. He delves more deeply into hunt prep, gear, travel, surviving extreme weather, and his internal universe than the hunt itself. Maybe that’s what makes these tales so good.
