Roan is Africa’s fourth largest antelope, males reaching 600#. They are members of the “horse antelope” tribe and cousins to the 100# lighter sable. Roan got the mass, but sable got the longer, scimitar horns and arguably more striking pelage. I took this old bull with that gorgeous Dakota M10 in 7x57 Mauser using a Meopta scope in Talley rings and 120-grain Barnes TSX Bullet. 1st hit was too low, but second anchored him as he ran. Steaks were the most delicious of all species taken. Jagshund Durnstein trousers were the most comfortable hunting pant I’ve ever worn in Africa. @fortrichmondsafaris @dakotaarms_ @barnesbullets @talley_rings @jagdhund.austria @meoptasportoptics #horseantelope #roan #safari #sustainableuse #itswhatsfordinner #naturalmeat #freerangeprotein #rewilding #betterthanbeef #dakota10 #dakotarifles #meoptascope #talleyrings #barnesbullets #ronspomeroutdoors #7x57 #7x57mauser @ronspomer
