After fattening itself on a couple of our chickens, this coyote volunteered to serve as an all-organic, free-range, self-replicating, biodegradable, sustainable use garment. Fur buyer traded us $50 for this prime pelt. He’ll likely sell it to a furrier for $100. Who knows how much it will sell for as a finished coat or jacket. Fur. It’s Nature’s original clothing and endlessly sustainable. Why ignore it in favor of petroleum-based synthetics? #fur #greenliving #sustainableuse #naturalresources #coyotehunting #coyote #dancingspringsranch #ronspomeroutdoors #offgridliving

My son-in-laws mule deer rifle last fall. Riton scope in Talley rings atop Kimber Sub-Alpine in the versatile 280 AI shooting Nosler 150-grain ABLR. He was deadly on rocks out to 450 yards, but no old bucks presented themselves for the table. #kimber #riton #nosler #talleyrings #accubondlongrange #deerrifle #fall #autumnleaves #hunting #deerhunting #boltactionrifle #ronspomeroutdoors #dancingspringsranch

SIGSauer Cross rifle is not an SR15. See the bolt handle? This is not my idea of an attractive rifle, but I’m betting thousands of AR fans will like it — especially once they lear about the new 277 SIG Fury cartridge. #sigsauerusa #sigsauerrifle #sigsauer #sigcrossrifle #277sigfury #270cartridge #boltaction #boltactionrifle #ronspomeroutdoors

I don’t know where this whitetail was bred and fed, but it shows what selective breeding and superior nutrition can do for antler production. In the wilds something like this has never grown. No survival benefit for the species,so excessive antler growth is weeded out of the herd. Reportedly measures about 600 inches of times. #animalhusbandry #sciconvention2020 #taxidermy #manipulation #geneticmanipulation #selectivebreeding #whitetaildeer #antlers #scishow2020 #ronspomeroutdoors

Like fine detail in your taxidermy? Here’s some from a display @scifoundation Convention last week. SCI pours $millions into wildlife each year, but is also one of the busiest and most successful orgs. Protecting hunter rights. Join. It’s not just for the rich and famous. They’re just the branch that shells out most of the $! #sciconvention2020 #taxidermy #mounts #zebra #crocodile #hunting #ronspomeroutdoors #conservation #sustainablehunting #sustainableuse #stripes #huntervationist

Here’s a juxtaposition to my Cooper rifle photo. Plastic has neither the beauty nor soul of fine walnut. But if pretty is as pretty does, this Ultra Light Arms M20 in 284 Winchester is stunningly gorgeous. The first season I hunted with it: 11 shots, 10 animals. I gave mnt. goat an anchoring shot so it wouldn’t kick over a cliff. With scope, Talley rings, 3 Nosler 140-gr. Partitions aboard, the field-ready rig weighs just under 6 pounds. Groups 3” under 1.25” consistently. That’s been good enough to take everything engaged out to 411 yards, the farthest I’ve ever had to stretch it. Melvin Forbes created a legend with his innovative rifles. Durable, functional, minimal, balanced, deadly and a pure delight to carry. Recoil? Never bothered me or anyone who’s ever shot it. I generally used a Leupold Compact 2-7 or VX3 2.5-8x36 with it. This Nikon has good optical quality, but is 3 or 4 ounces heavier. #ultralightarmsm20 #ultralightarms #ultralightrifle #mountainrifle #fiberglassstocks @talley_rings #nikonscope #huntingrifle #zeisshunting #lowaboots #284win #284winchester #petrifle #favoriterifle #ronspomeroutdoors
