Here’s a juxtaposition to my Cooper rifle photo. Plastic has neither the beauty nor soul of fine walnut. But if pretty is as pretty does, this Ultra Light Arms M20 in 284 Winchester is stunningly gorgeous. The first season I hunted with it: 11 shots, 10 animals. I gave mnt. goat an anchoring shot so it wouldn’t kick over a cliff. With scope, Talley rings, 3 Nosler 140-gr. Partitions aboard, the field-ready rig weighs just under 6 pounds. Groups 3” under 1.25” consistently. That’s been good enough to take everything engaged out to 411 yards, the farthest I’ve ever had to stretch it. Melvin Forbes created a legend with his innovative rifles. Durable, functional, minimal, balanced, deadly and a pure delight to carry. Recoil? Never bothered me or anyone who’s ever shot it. I generally used a Leupold Compact 2-7 or VX3 2.5-8x36 with it. This Nikon has good optical quality, but is 3 or 4 ounces heavier. #ultralightarmsm20 #ultralightarms #ultralightrifle #mountainrifle #fiberglassstocks @talley_rings #nikonscope #huntingrifle #zeisshunting #lowaboots #284win #284winchester #petrifle #favoriterifle #ronspomeroutdoors
